FAQs

How do I determine if movies take passes or not?

In order to know if movies take passes or not, first look at the movie listings on the web page. "**No Discount Passes**" signifies that the movie does not accept passes. Pass restrictions last on average 2 weeks.

Why do you charge for young children?

All auditoriums have a certain seat capacity. Small children need to be included in this capacity for emergency reasons, as well as fire codes. If something were to happen, management needs an accurate head count to assure safety. Infants are usually in the parents lap and are not often in a position to be placed in harms way. **Noisy or misbehaving children are a distraction to all patrons and will be asked to leave.

Why are concession prices so high?

Concession sales are what keep movie theatres in business. The majority of box office receipts are kept by movie distributors, not the actual movie theatre. Allen Theatres' concession and box office prices are comparable, if not lower than most theatre chains.

Why are there so many trailers (commercials) on before the movie?

One of our most important ways of advertising upcoming movies is by showing previews. Many movies are not advertised on television and consumers have no other way of getting that information. As for the commercial advertising that is often shown, we must show what the movie distributors ask us to show. If we didn't, we wouldn't be able to get their movies.

Why are the trailers at a different volume than the movie?

Trailers are often made with different sound formats, e.g. Dolby Digital, Sony, DTS etc. This can cause different sound levels to occur. If for some reason they are too loud or too quiet please feel free to ask management to adjust the sound. Keep in mind, we set our volume level at the specifications of the movie distributor and the feature presentation should always be presented at a comfortable volume.

How can I advertise on your Screen Advertising before the film and how much is it?

Contact our offices (575) 524-7933 for more information.

Why does Allen Theatres not show certain films?

When movies are made, the distributors (Buena Vista, Paramount, etc.,) decide how many "prints" or copies of the movie they will make, depending on how well they think the movie will do with main stream audiences. If only a few prints are made, the film companies usually booked them to play in larger cities with a higher population (hence more profit for them).

Why do I sometimes see unattended young children movies?

Parents can purchase the ticket for their young child, but does not have to see the movie with them. If for some reason an unattended child is causing a disturbance, please notify any Allen Theatre employee and that employee will deal with the problem immediately.

Why are the theatres checking bags and not allowing back packs into theatres?

Due to recent local and national events for the safety of our customers and our staff we are not allowing backpacks or large bags into our theatres. Small bags, briefcases, purses etc. are being randomly searched upon entrance. We encourage all customers to leave non-essential baggage at home or hidden in their vehicles.

What is 3D+ in HFR?

3D+ in HFR (high frame rate) is an evolutionary digital format with a frame rate of 60 frames per second - more than double the traditional movie frame rate - giving audiences an amplified, fully-immersive 3D experience. With 60 3D images projected every second, derived from a pristine 120 fps master, 3D+ in HFR renders images closer than ever before to what the human eye sees, putting the viewer right in the center of the action. This elevated combination of performance and action sees 3D+ in HFR deliver the emotional journey and visual spectacle of a filmmaker's vision exactly as they intended it.
